The strongest political powers in the main hemisphere are
- the Kingdom of Kerel: up until a year ago, an average feudal nation with the nobles abusing their power over peasants. The death of the king caused the young prince to come to power, and somehow he has whipped the dukes into line and ushered in an unprecented period of benevolence for all.
- the Shadowmoon Suzerainty: an equitable association of nations on paper, an absolute dictatorship in reality. Extremely LN. Obey the law and you have nothing to fear.
- the Kishpak Empire: over the last several hundred years, a shadowy figure known as "Khalid the Undying" (assumed by most to be a human arch-mage) has, via an immense amount of brute force (both physical and magical) united an astonishing collection of humanoids. Squelching their inter- and intra-species wars, he has brought an unprecented degree of organization to these normally unruly & chaotic races, resulting in an ominous threat to the neighboring countries.
- the city-state Silverkeep: no army, no navy, almost entirely merchants ruled by a brilliant leader who manages to not only stay in power, but maintain a balance between Kerel and Shadowmoon.
